Job Description
The Solutions Architect will report directly to the Director, Application Architecture. The individual will operate in a highly collaborative work environment, and will drive the establishment, design and documentation of application architecture.

The incumbent will be responsible for solution designs and technical oversight and will help set and enforce architectural standards, direction, recommendations and governance for applications within program.

The successful candidate will collaborate with business, IT and architecture leadership as well as vendors to capture functional and technical requirements and apply the appropriate technology solutions in alignment with company standards. Position requires strong knowledge of architecture techniques including experience with modern system development technologies, a working understanding of technical infrastructure, application architecture and solution design.

  • Provide architectural and technical leadership for the harvesting of existing and the implementation of new solution architecture capabilities via assigned projects.
  • Ensure technical nonfunctional requirements including security, performance, scalability, and reliability get addressed in addition to business functional requirements.
  • Ensure consistency and adherence to architecture roadmaps, blueprints, standards, and best practices across the enterprise by actively participating in application delivery across SDLC phases.
  • Establish solutions for technical problems and recommend design changes to ensure successful implementation.
  • Mentor development teams on proper use and implementation of patterns and frameworks.
  • Assess new technologies to determine suitability and alignment with enterprise technology standards.
  • Own the overall application/solution architecture and associated trade-off decisions throughout the life cycle of application releases.
Job Skills
  • At least 10 years of IT/technology experience, with experience defining and implementing modern solution design.
  • Broad & deep technical knowledge and expertise required.
  • OOD, SOA & general web technology knowledge/experience required, as well as experience in one or more of the following: .Net, JAVA, HTML, XML, CSS, SAML, content management tools, web search appliances, web security, mobile application development, web services standards, industry frameworks.
  • Demonstrated track record of project execution and delivery.
  • Strong process orientation, analysis and critical thinking skills.
  • Dynamic leadership ability to develop and energize cross-functional multidiscipline, high-performance work.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience interacting with senior managers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence people at a variety of levels, internally and externally.
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or similar.
  • Insurance background a plus.
